From bold brights to comfy neutrals, the choice of hues for your eye makeup can transform your entire look with just a few swipes.
But eye makeup can be intimidating—all those cut-creases, complicated blending, and perfect cat-eyes can be hard to replicate if you’re a newbie. Even if you’re following a tutorial, all the steps can get pretty difficult to follow. It is crucial to figure out what you want to create on your lid space, especially with all the colors and textures from your palette.
If that’s the case with you too, stick with us to get a hold of different techniques (step-by-step guide)- before & during applying your eye makeup for any occasion.
Prep your eyes with eye primer.
It is strongly advised that you apply an eye primer at all times!
After all, that’s what will keep your eye makeup in place for a longer time. Using an eye primer will help you create a smooth surface on which cosmetics can easily glide. If you have oily lids, you can’t afford to omit this step.
Apply a small quantity of the primer and leave it aside to dry, then apply an eye shadow base to give your shades a solid foundation to work with. If you don’t have an eye shadow base, you can also use foundation or concealer.
Grab your concealer.
Using your finger, dab a small amount of concealer on the center of your clean, dry eyelid. Smooth it gently into the inner corner of the eye & then out to the outer corner.
Make a flawless, natural-looking finish by blending concealer into the crease and continuing it up towards the brow. If there are any creases or missing locations, gently smooth them out with your finger.
Because your concealer “sets,” apply your first coat of eyeshadow beforehand. Then get all dolled up and forget about your makeup for the rest of the day! You’re all set.
Is your brush right?
To achieve that magical look on your face, every beauty fan must first learn how to apply cosmetic products. It’s critical to master the fundamentals of dazzling eyes. You can simply become creative with your makeup skills to enhance your looks after you know what brushes to use and how to use them. There are many different eye makeup brushes in the market and figuring out which one is suitable can be a little overwhelming. Before throwing your hands on every single one of them, start off with the beginners’ brush & move your way up to those fancy brushes.
Bring in the eyeshadow.
When it comes to makeup, there is no territory richer or riper for experimentation than eyeshadow. It’s a world that welcomes everyone- minimalists, maximalists, newbies, and pros – all alike.
To create a simple & natural look, you’ll only need two colors of eyeshadow: a base that matches the color of your skin and a deeper/darker shade. While you can use any color you choose, a neutral shade that matches your skin tone will appear most natural.
Use a foundation shade that is some what darker than your skin tone if you have fair skin. If your complexion is dark, use a hue that is a shade lighter to ensure that it stands out.
Highlight the high points.
Apply a small amount of highlighter on the tip of a highlighting eyeshadow brush. After that, press the brush into the corners of your inner eyelids.
If you want a more dramatic effect, add a couple of coats or just a little dusting for some subtle highlights.
Use the eyeliner to perfect the look.
If you’re new to the eyeliner game, all your options might overwhelm you. Pencil, gel, liquid, felt… the list goes on.
But on the other hand, the smooth pencil glides on easily, doesn’t tug, and is more forgiving with shaky hands than liquid or gel. “Similar to writing with a pencil, an eyeliner pencil is easiest and most fail-proof eyeliner to use for beginners,” says celebrity makeup artist Renee Loiz. “Just hold as you would a regular pencil and draw along your lash line. I’d also recommend using a non-waterproof eyeliner pencil and having Q-Tips and makeup remover on had to easily erase any mistake.”
Curl your lashes.
Curling the eyelashes is one of those action in a makeup application routine that receives little recognition, but when done correctly, can give out amazing results. When lashes are curled properly, they appear longer, thicker, and fuller, and the eyes appear larger and more alluring.
Finish it with a ‘mascara’.
After all, there’s a reason mascara is a beauty staple: a few swipes can completely transform your look. With so many wonderful formulas and ways to apply them, the possibilities are boundless. Look up and position the wand at the base of your upper lashes. Twist it back and forth to coat the base of your lashes with mascara. Then, as you move the wand upward towards the tip of your lashes, make sure you’re coating all of your lashes and go slowly to minimize clumping. Apply several coats of mascara until you achieve the desired thickness and look, being careful not to let the product dry between applications (this can make your eyelashes brittle and weak).
